Access and contact

The archive is open for consultation by all interested parties.

Online research

You can search our holdings by yourself in the catalog of the St.Gallen State Archive. For this purpose, you can use the full text search (search by keywords), field search (search with filters) and archive plan search (navigating search). Alternatively, you can contact the University Archives team and we will assist you with your search.

Digital delivery

In general, we will send you the requested documents or photos in digitized form. If you wish to consult the original documents, you can either use the reading room of the State Archive or the office of the University Archives at Dufourstrasse 48 (no reading room infrastructure). In any case, you should contact us in advance so that we can provide the files in time.

Handover to the University Archives

If you have documents, data or photos related to the HSG, we would be pleased to receive them in the University Archives. Personal documents in particular not often find their way to us and are particularly valuable contemporary witnesses.

Send your request to or contact our staff directly.
